Murdered British girl’s family in phone-hacking payout



The owners of the now-defunct News of the World will pay about three million pound (S$4.9 million(s to the family of the murdered girl at the centre of the phone-hacking scandal in Britain, reports said on Monday.
Milly Dowler's family will receive two million pounds and News International will also make a donation of one million pounds to charity as part of the settlement, Sky News reported.
A News International spokesman confirmed on Monday that the company 'was in advanced negotiations with the Dowler family regarding their compensation settlement.
'No final agreement has yet been reached, but we hope to conclude the discussions as quickly as possible,' added the statement.
