Why Was Alec Baldwin’s Segment Cut from Emmy Opening?

Sunday’s Emmys will open with a video featuring a bunch of skits poking fun at TV. And when you think of “fun” and “TV” (and possibly even “poking”), Alec Baldwin is surely a name that springs to mind.  So why was the segment he’d already taped scrubbed from the video?  Depends which story you believe.Producers complied, and later asked “Star Trek, star Leonard Nimoy to re-tape Baldwin’s sketch - without the so-called offensive joke of course.Anyway Alec won’t be at the show tonight anyway. He’s a nominee for “30 Rock, but opted to attend Tony Bennett’s 85th birthday party in New York instead.
