Good news, Film Buffs: A set of thrilling attractions inspired by James Cameron’s box office-breaking 2009 film Avatar will arrive at an assortment of Disney-owned theme parks by 2013, The Hollywood Reporter said TuesdayCameron has been tipped to serve as a creative consultant and partner with Walt Disney Imagineering in creation of the attractions. According to THR: “The first themed ‘land’ will be built at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, with construction expected to start by 2013. The first Avatar attraction will be inside the Animal Kingdom park. Disney said this was chosen because “with its emphasis on living in harmony with nature, Animal Kingdom is a natural fit for the Avatar stories, which share the same philosophy.”
Perhaps not coincidentially, Avatar will make its Disney debut just in time for the release of two follow-ups to the popular movie. Cameron has announced plans to release a pair of Avatar sequels, featuring original stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, by 2015.
