Johnny Depp to Play Dr. Seuss in New Biopic.

Johnny Depp, who’s already played Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie in “Finding Neverland,” will reportedly portray another well-known author: Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.
Illumination Entertainment and Depp’s Infinitum Nihil production company are developing the still-untitled live-action movie, which will be written by Keith Bunin (“In Treatment”) and distributed by Universal.
Geisel, born in 1904, spent much of his early career writing advertising and comic strips, then did political cartoons during World War II. In 1950 he took on the pen-name Dr. Seuss, under which he wrote such children’s classics as Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. By the time he died in 1991, he’d sold some 200 million books worldwide.
